Magnesium oxide is an inorganic magnesium source with the highest elemental magnesium content. It enables compact, cost-effective high-magnesium tablets and is also used as an antacid and pH buffer.

Supplied as a mineral salt / chelate for supplement, premix and fortification use; elemental mineral content is declared on the CoA.

How to Use / Dosage

• Typical daily intake: 200–400 mg/day elemental magnesium (compound provides approx. 55–60% Mg)
• Typical use level: 5–60% in tablets and capsules; used in multimineral premixes for compact dosing
• Formulation tip: Calculate dosage on elemental mineral content (see CoA), not on total salt weight.
• Weigh accurately and pre-blend small quantities with a carrier (e.g. maltodextrin, MCC or rice flour) for uniform distribution.
• Final dosage should be based on the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis, the target serving size and the rules of your destination market.

Solubility & Formulation

Practically insoluble in water and ethanol; soluble in dilute acids

Storage & Handling

Store in tightly closed containers in a dry place; absorbs moisture and CO2 from air.. Keep container tightly closed; use clean, dry utensils. Shelf life is typically 24 months in unopened original packaging (see CoA).

Regulatory Note

Permitted magnesium source in EU food supplements (Directive 2002/46/EC, Annex II) and GRAS/dietary ingredient in the US. Verify national maximum levels in the destination market.

• Excess may cause loose stools; caution with kidney impairment
• Separate from tetracycline/quinolone antibiotics, bisphosphonates and levothyroxine by 2+ hours
• Lower fractional absorption than organic salts
• Alkaline – may destabilise vitamin K2, B vitamins and acidic actives
