Beta-carotene is an orange carotenoid pigment and provitamin A, produced by synthesis, fermentation (Blakeslea trispora) or from algal sources. It is used both as a nutrient and as a colour.

Micronized (particle-engineered) grade with a tightly controlled particle size for improved dispersion, content uniformity and dissolution.

How to Use / Dosage

  • Typical daily intake: 3–15 mg/day as provitamin A
  • Typical use level: 0.001–0.05% (as pure beta-carotene) for colouring; 0.5–5% of 10% forms in tablets and capsules
  • Formulation tip: Fine particles can be dusty and cohesive; use flow aids where needed and handle with dust control.
  • Weigh accurately and pre-blend small quantities with a carrier (e.g. maltodextrin, MCC or rice flour) for uniform distribution.
  • Final dosage should be based on the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis, the target serving size and the rules of your destination market.

Storage & Handling

Store below 15–25 °C in sealed, light-protective containers under nitrogen where possible; avoid heat, moisture and oxygen.. Keep container tightly closed; use clean, dry utensils. Shelf life is typically 24 months in unopened original packaging (see CoA).

Regulatory Note

Permitted as colour E160a and as a vitamin A source in EU food supplements; GRAS in the US. EU guidance advises caution for high-dose use in smokers – verify labelling requirements in the destination market.
