Micronized Iron Pyrophosphate – D90 < 20 µm

Ferric pyrophosphate is an off-white, water-insoluble iron salt prized for fortifying colour- and flavour-sensitive foods because it causes minimal discolouration or metallic taste. Micronized and encapsulated grades improve dispersion and bioavailability in liquids.

Micronized (particle-engineered) grade with a tightly controlled particle size for improved dispersion, content uniformity and dissolution.

GUTINS Micronized Iron Pyrophosphate — D90 < 20 µm is offered for manufacturers, formulators and brands. Specification: D90 < 20 µm; form / technology: Micronized powder; diet suitability: Verify source.

Key Benefits

  • Supports normal red blood cell formation and oxygen transport
  • Contributes to reduced tiredness and fatigue
  • Near-neutral taste and colour in finished foods
  • Low reactivity with fats, polyphenols and vitamins
  • Micronized grades disperse well in milks and beverages

Uses & Applications

Typical applications: Capsules, tablets, beverages, premixes.

  • Fortified dairy and plant-based milks
  • Infant cereals and nutrition powders
  • Fortified rice kernels and flours
  • Chocolate and bouillon fortification
  • Iron capsules and tablets
  • Protein and meal-replacement shakes
  • Salt double-fortification

How to Use / Dosage

  • Typical daily intake: 14–30 mg/day elemental iron (ferric pyrophosphate ~24–26% Fe)
  • Typical use level: 0.01–0.2% in fortified foods, dairy and beverages; 5–30% in capsule and tablet blends
  • Formulation tip: Fine particles can be dusty and cohesive; use flow aids where needed and handle with dust control.
  • Weigh accurately and pre-blend small quantities with a carrier (e.g. maltodextrin, MCC or rice flour) for uniform distribution.
  • Final dosage should be based on the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis, the target serving size and the rules of your destination market.

Solubility & Formulation

Micronized for faster wetting and dispersion. Intrinsic solubility of the active: insoluble in water and oils; soluble in dilute mineral acids

Storage & Handling

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place (below 25 °C) protected from moisture and light.. Keep container tightly closed; use clean, dry utensils. Shelf life is typically 24 months in unopened original packaging (see CoA).

Regulatory Note

Permitted source of iron in dietary supplements and fortified foods in the US, EU (Directive 2002/46/EC / Reg. 1925/2006 lists) and India (FSSAI); FDA requires the iron accidental-overdose warning on solid supplements. Verify form-specific listings and maximum levels in the destination market. Ferric pyrophosphate is GRAS (21 CFR 184.1304) and listed in EU Annex II of Directive 2002/46/EC.

Diet suitability: Verify source. This product is supplied as a raw ingredient for further manufacturing and is not a finished consumer product. The buyer is responsible for ensuring the ingredient, its use level and all label claims comply with the regulations of the destination market (e.g. FDA, EFSA, FSSAI, Health Canada, TGA).

Caution & Disclaimer

  • Iron can be harmful in excess: keep out of reach of children (accidental iron overdose is dangerous); US UL 45 mg/day elemental iron
  • Reduces absorption of levothyroxine, tetracyclines, quinolones and levodopa – separate dosing by 2–4 h
  • Not for people with haemochromatosis or iron overload unless medically advised
  • Lower relative bioavailability than ferrous salts unless micronized/encapsulated – adjust dose accordingly

For manufacturing, formulation and professional use only. Not for direct consumption in concentrated form. Keep out of reach of children.
