Micronized L-Leucine – D90 < 20 µm

L-Leucine is an essential branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) and the key trigger of muscle protein synthesis via the mTOR pathway. It is produced mainly by fermentation and is a cornerstone of BCAA, EAA and recovery formulas. Fermentation-derived grades are suitable for vegan positioning.

Micronized (particle-engineered) grade with a tightly controlled particle size for improved dispersion, content uniformity and dissolution.

GUTINS Micronized L-Leucine — D90 < 20 µm is offered for manufacturers, formulators and brands. Specification: D90 < 20 µm; form / technology: Micronized powder; diet suitability: Verify source.

Key Benefits

  • Essential amino acid that supports muscle protein synthesis
  • Supports muscle recovery after exercise
  • Helps maintain lean muscle mass during ageing and dieting
  • Key component of 2:1:1 and 4:1:1 BCAA ratios
  • Supports protein quality of plant-based foods

Uses & Applications

Typical applications: Capsules, tablets, beverages, premixes.

  • BCAA powders and capsules
  • Essential amino acid (EAA) blends
  • Intra-workout drinks
  • Healthy aging muscle formulas
  • Plant protein fortification
  • Medical and clinical nutrition products

How to Use / Dosage

  • Typical daily intake: 2-5 g/day (2.5-3 g per serving around training)
  • Typical use level: 10-60% in BCAA and EAA powders; up to 100% in capsule fills; 0.5-3% in RTD beverages
  • Formulation tip: Fine particles can be dusty and cohesive; use flow aids where needed and handle with dust control.
  • Weigh accurately and pre-blend small quantities with a carrier (e.g. maltodextrin, MCC or rice flour) for uniform distribution.
  • Final dosage should be based on the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis, the target serving size and the rules of your destination market.

Solubility & Formulation

Micronized for faster wetting and dispersion. Intrinsic solubility of the active: sparingly soluble in water (about 24 g/L at 25 °C); instantized grades disperse readily; insoluble in oils and ethanol

Storage & Handling

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place below 25 °C, protected from moisture and light.. Keep container tightly closed; use clean, dry utensils. Shelf life is typically 24 months in unopened original packaging (see CoA).

Regulatory Note

Listed as a nutrient/food ingredient (US 21 CFR 172.320 permits amino acids as food additives with limits); widely used in EU food supplements and sports foods. Verify source (fermentation vs. animal-derived) declarations and limits in the destination market.

Diet suitability: Verify source. This product is supplied as a raw ingredient for further manufacturing and is not a finished consumer product. The buyer is responsible for ensuring the ingredient, its use level and all label claims comply with the regulations of the destination market (e.g. FDA, EFSA, FSSAI, Health Canada, TGA).

Caution & Disclaimer

  • Avoid with maple syrup urine disease
  • Very high intakes (above about 0.5 g/kg/day) may raise ammonia
  • Poor wettability of non-instantized grades - may float and foam
  • Caution with ALS and some metabolic conditions
