Calcium gluconate is the calcium salt of gluconic acid, a mild, neutral-tasting and low-irritancy calcium source. Its low calcium density makes it most useful where solubility and taste matter more than potency.

Supplied as a mineral salt / chelate for supplement, premix and fortification use; elemental mineral content is declared on the CoA.

How to Use / Dosage

• Typical daily intake: 250–1,000 mg/day elemental calcium (~9% Ca)
• Typical use level: 0.1–1.5% in beverages and foods; 20–70% in tablets
• Formulation tip: Calculate dosage on elemental mineral content (see CoA), not on total salt weight.
• Weigh accurately and pre-blend small quantities with a carrier (e.g. maltodextrin, MCC or rice flour) for uniform distribution.
• Final dosage should be based on the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis, the target serving size and the rules of your destination market.

Sparingly soluble in cold water, freely soluble in boiling water; insoluble in ethanol and oils

Storage & Handling

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place (below 25 °C) protected from moisture and light.. Keep container tightly closed; use clean, dry utensils. Shelf life is typically 24 months in unopened original packaging (see CoA).

Regulatory Note

Calcium gluconate is GRAS in the US (21 CFR 184.1199), EU additive E578 and a permitted mineral source in EU supplements. Verify limits in destination market.

• Upper limit 2,500 mg/day calcium from all sources (US/EFSA for adults); excess may cause constipation or hypercalcaemia
• May reduce absorption of iron, zinc, thyroid hormone, bisphosphonates, tetracyclines and quinolones – separate dosing
• Use caution in individuals with kidney stones or hyperparathyroidism; combine thoughtfully with vitamin D
• Only ~9% calcium – not practical for high-dose single tablets
