Magnesium chloride is a highly soluble inorganic magnesium salt, commonly supplied as the hexahydrate. It is used in electrolyte drinks, mineral waters, tofu coagulation and topical 'magnesium oil'.

Supplied as a mineral salt / chelate for supplement, premix and fortification use; elemental mineral content is declared on the CoA.

How to Use / Dosage

• Typical daily intake: 200–400 mg/day elemental magnesium (compound provides approx. ~12% (hexahydrate) Mg)
• Typical use level: 0.05–1% in waters and electrolyte drinks; 10–60% in capsules; used in topical oils and flakes
• Formulation tip: Calculate dosage on elemental mineral content (see CoA), not on total salt weight.
• Weigh accurately and pre-blend small quantities with a carrier (e.g. maltodextrin, MCC or rice flour) for uniform distribution.
• Final dosage should be based on the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis, the target serving size and the rules of your destination market.

Very soluble in water; soluble in ethanol; insoluble in oils

Storage & Handling

Store in hermetically sealed containers in a dry place; highly hygroscopic.. Keep container tightly closed; use clean, dry utensils. Shelf life is typically 24 months in unopened original packaging (see CoA).

Regulatory Note

Permitted magnesium source in EU food supplements (Directive 2002/46/EC, Annex II) and GRAS/dietary ingredient in the US. Verify national maximum levels in the destination market.

• Excess may cause loose stools; caution with kidney impairment
• Separate from tetracycline/quinolone antibiotics, bisphosphonates and levothyroxine by 2+ hours
• Bitter, salty taste – mask in beverages
• Very hygroscopic/deliquescent
